Vegas Weddings: Tips for Swapping Wedding Rings on the Strip

Is a Las Vegas exchange of wedding rings right for you?  Every year, more than 120,000 weddings are performed in Vegas, for couples that come from all across the globe, making Sin City the most popular place for destination weddings.  For the traditional couple, a Las Vegas ceremony is probably not the right choice, but for those that want an outside-the-box experience, or want a carefree and quick wedding, Las Vegas may be calling!  What’s more is that Vegas weddings can be very inexpensive.  While the average wedding ceremony and reception will costs upwards of $20,000, you can get hitched in Vegas for a few hundred dollars (not including travel expenses, of course!)

If you are considering loading up your wedding dress, your witnesses, and your wedding rings and hightailing to Vegas to tie the knot, here are some things that you should consider:

The most important things to consider are the legalities.  It is extremely easy to get married in Vegas; all that is required for a marriage license is a US driver’s license or Passport and about $60.  This is fine for US couples, but for those coming from other countries, you want to be sure that your nation will honor a Vegas wedding.  Because it is so easy to get hitched on the strip, there are some countries that do not recognize Sin City marriages as legal unions.

Also consider the time of year that you are planning to exchange wedding rings Vegas style.  During the summer, Vegas is HOT, so dress accordingly.  In addition, throughout the remainder of the year Vegas plays host to many events and is especially popular during the holidays.  Also, favorite wedding days such as 10/10/2010 see a flood of engaged couples and it may be difficult to find an available wedding venue.  Just plan ahead, make some reservations, and you should be well on your may to matrimony.

Thirdly, and the most exciting part of your Vegas exchange of wedding rings is to consider your actual ceremony.  Vegas is the capital of crazy weddings!  Do you want a traditional white wedding gown…or something a little more in tune with a Sin City marriage ceremony?  The sky is the limit in terms of Vegas dress…perhaps the groom dons an Elvis costume and the bride dresses up like Priscilla!  Whatever you choose, think outside the box because one of the beauties of tying the knot in Vegas is that you can completely be yourself!  You can make your wedding ceremony as crazy as you like; in Vegas, there are even drive through wedding chapels!
